The Dark World

Such is the dark world we live, of men,
Where the rich and the poor worship idols,
Where tongues profane and the wicked rest not.
This world is a place of dishonor to
Ancestral ties; of brute violence, and to
Savage barbarism to carnal pleasures.
Fraud, deceit, and lies are common to men,
And malice reigns and controls every end.
For all but to only the few, there is,
A sanctuary where among the dark,
A beacon of light guides and warms humble
And penitent hearts whose virtues shine bright.
