The Ruby Rings
You had invited me into your home
What was once the shelter of your father.
You had heard my words, to understand me;
What trauma I had gone through in my time.
The difficulties were in the past now;
In the future, a bond between father-son.
The evening was right when you showed me;
In its place, two ruby rings, old and new.
How did you come to possess the old;
When mother had held onto it when left.
Did I dare to steal it back for me? No.
Both are yours and only yours until your end.
