Heavy Water

Heavy Water

I am a soldier, on duty — at war
For as long as I can recall, here in
Norway for a weapon as loud as Thor
And serve my Lord, so we (and I) can win,
And I can return to my love as a
Hero, but no; I am to trek, not done,
From the top of the world where light rules the
Night through an endless reign of the cruel sun.
Now I trudge through the murky cold marsh,
No snow, but frostbite and despair with no
Goal in sight for miles — It is a harsh
Fate to travel like this, but travel…? Where to?
In this icy limbo, I am left with hope,
But not enough – nothing beyond – to cope.
